These Will Be the Years

Came across this on my Soundcloud yesterday and I’ve probably listened to it 20 times already. Alesso’s “Years” has unbelievable piano riffs and uplifting lyrics that are perfect for the ensuing spring and summer. I really can’t get enough of this one people. Get after it.

And here is the video recap of the second day at Ultra. More of the same here: Eric Prydz beats, beautiful girls dancing (1:49…), and Avicii and Madonna doing their thing.

Happy Friday

Michael Woods feat. Duvall – Last Day On Earth (Jack Esquire Remix)*** Big song by Michael Woods. I heard Afrojack drop this one at Ultra and it was huge. Lyrics, lyrics lyrics.

This is a video recap of the first day at Ultra 2012. It’s videos like this that send chills down my spine. Enjoy, and be sure to check back soon for the remaining two vids.

Discount Malinchak

Check this guy Chris Malinchak out. He’s a relatively unknown composer/DJ from NYC and he’s really gaining some recognition. I posted his song “No Secrets” before, but he’s definitely worth a second look. Every New Yorker will enjoy the gritty and perfect nature of the videos  (montages) that accompany his songs.

Just heard Guetta drop this bootleg on UMFTV. I really dig the combination of these two songs. It just works.

Avicii vs. Goyte – Levels Somebody That I Used to Know (AX Mashup)

ULTRA 2012

I have been at Ultra for the past three days…well at least in spirit. UMFTV did a fantastic job of bringing the three day EDM festival to living rooms around the world, all in real time. They highlighted all the best acts including Pretty Lights, Nicky Romero, Afrojack. Fedde le Grand, Martin Solvieg, Fatboy Slim, and Avicii with special guest Madonna. However, I think the highlight for me, sitting in my living room mind you, was Carl Cox playing in the Cocoon Arena, a set he designed himself. Honey comb-shaped screens surrounded the entire set creating a unbelievable light show experience on top of Cox and friends’ progressive anthems. Once the mayhem in Miami dies down, and the rave participants begin sharing their pics and videos on the www, i’ll be sure to share the Cocoon Arena with you.

Here are a couple tracks that got heavy playing time at Ultra by a handful of different DJs. These aren’t new, but after seeing them at Ultra (ha) they will firmly move to my top 10 played over the coming weeks.

Afrojack ft Shermanology – Can’t stop me now (Original Extended Mix)

Knife Party – Internet Friends (Original Mix)

Afrojack – No Beef (Original Mix)

More to come from this historical weekend in Miami.
